Description

This distinguished medal group consists of the 1914-1915 Star, the British War Medal, the Victory Medal, and the Military Medal, all professionally mounted for wear or display. The 1914-1915 Star is a campaign medal awarded to personnel who served in any theatre of war against the Central Powers between 5th August 1914 and 31st December 1915. It recognises those who answered the call to serve during the early and critical stages of the Great War. The British War Medal was awarded for service in World War I between 5th August 1914 and 11th November 1918, and for service in operations in mine clearance and Russia in 1919-1920. It is one of the most widely awarded campaign medals of the conflict. The Victory Medal was awarded to all eligible personnel who served in an operational theatre during World War I. Also known as the Inter-Allied Victory Medal, it was awarded by all Allied nations to symbolise the common cause and shared victory of the Allied forces. The Military Medal was instituted in 1916 and awarded to non-commissioned officers and other ranks for individual or associated acts of bravery in the field. It recognises conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty under fire during wartime operations. Together, these medals represent the complete service record of a distinguished World War I veteran, from initial campaign service through to recognition of exceptional bravery. They are a fitting tribute to the courage and sacrifice of those who served in the Great War.SPECIFICATIONS:
