This distinguished medal group consists of the National Medal and the Australian Defence Medal (ADM), all professionally mounted for wear or display.
The National Medal is awarded to members of eligible organisations who have completed 15 years of diligent service that involves risk to their personal safety. It recognises the dedication of those serving in the Australian Defence Force, police, fire, ambulance, and other protective services who place themselves in harm's way in the course of their duties.
The Australian Defence Medal (ADM) is awarded to Australian Defence Force personnel who have efficiently completed either an initial enlistment period or four years of service, whichever is the lesser. It recognises the commitment and contribution of ADF personnel, including Reserve members.
Together, these medals acknowledge the commitment and dedication of those who have served in roles involving personal risk and long-term service to the Australian Defence Force. They are a fitting tribute to the dedication and sacrifice of our service men and women.
