The Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) – Military Division is awarded to commissioned officers and senior non-commissioned officers for distinguished service to the armed forces. It recognises leadership, commitment, and notable contributions over a sustained period in both operational and support roles.
The medal is a cross patonce in silver-gilt with pale blue enamel on the arms. The centre bears the crowned effigy of the reigning monarch, surrounded by a ring inscribed with the Order’s motto “For God and the Empire”. The reverse shows the royal cypher. It is suspended from a ring, with a laurel wreath distinguishing military division awards. Replicas are marked with the word “COPY”.
The ribbon is rose pink with pearl grey edges and includes a narrow central pearl grey stripe to indicate the military division. The colours reflect service and honour.
The OBE – Military Division recognises substantial achievements and long-term dedication to military service. It honours officers and leaders whose work improves operations, welfare, or performance across the armed forces.
