The British Empire Medal (BEM) EIIR Military is awarded to non-commissioned officers and other ranks of the British and Commonwealth armed forces for meritorious service. It recognises dedication, discipline, and valuable contributions to military operations under the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
The medal features the crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse, facing right. The reverse bears the royal cypher “EIIR” with the inscription “For God and the Empire” encircled by a laurel wreath. It is silver and circular, with recipient details engraved on the rim. Replicas are marked with the word “COPY”.
The ribbon is rose pink with a central pearl grey stripe and narrow pearl grey edges. A laurel spray clasp is added to indicate military service.
