The Australian Police Medal (APM) is a prestigious award bestowed upon members of Australian police forces in recognition of their distinguished service and significant contributions to law enforcement and community safety. Established in 1986, this medal serves to acknowledge the outstanding achievements and commitment of police officers throughout Australia.
Eligibility for the Australian Police Medal requires the following:
The medal, with a diameter of 38 millimeters, is made of silver. The obverse side features the Federation Star overlayed with the Sovereign effigy, over a pattern of fluted rays. The reverse side carries the inscription "AUSTRALIAN POLICE MEDAL FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE", surrounded with a wreath of wattle. Copies are engraved with "REPLICA".
The accompanying ribbon, 32 millimeters wide, consists of equal-sized vertical stripes of white on the edges, and dark blue in the centre.
