The Star of Courage is awarded to civilians or military personnel who perform acts of conspicuous courage in circumstances of great peril. It recognises individuals who place themselves at considerable risk to protect others, without regard for their own safety.
The medal is a silver-gilt Federation Star with each point containing a ball tip. At the centre is a smaller silver star with radiating lines, representing courage shining outward. The reverse is engraved with the recipient’s name and details. Replicas are marked with the word “COPY”.
The ribbon is blood red with a central magenta stripe. The colours represent danger and personal sacrifice.
The Star of Courage represents bravery in life-threatening situations. It honours individuals who act decisively and selflessly when others are in danger.
