The Reserve Force Decoration (RFD) is an Australian military award presented to officers of the Australian Defence Force Reserve for 15 years accrued service. This decoration honors the commitment and dedication of reserve officers, acknowledging their valuable contribution to Australia's defence capabilities. The RFD was replaced by the Defence Long Service Medal in April 1999, however clasps could still be awarded for additional service.
Clasps
Gilted clasps are issued for every additional 5 years service in the Reserve Forces after the initial award of the medal. Regular service does not qualify. The clasp is attached to the ribbon above the medal with the full size and miniatures, and represented by a rosette on the ribbon bar. The reverse of the medal reads "FOR EFFICIENT SERVICE IN THE RESERVE FORCES" around the edge, and copies have "REPLICA" engraved in the centre.
Ribbon:
The accompanying ribbon has a base of dark blue, with a central stripe of yellow-gold. These were the national colours of Australia at the time of issue.
