The India General Service Medal (1854–1895) was awarded to British and Indian Army personnel for campaign service in India between 1854 and 1895. Each campaign was marked by a clasp attached to the ribbon, with 24 different clasps issued for various actions across the North-West Frontier and other regions.
The medal is circular and made of silver. The obverse features the diademed effigy of Queen Victoria with the inscription “VICTORIA REGINA”. The reverse shows a winged Victory crowning a seated warrior. Recipient details are engraved on the rim. Replicas are marked with the word “COPY”.
The ribbon is crimson with narrow green edges. The colours reflect long-standing traditional military ribbon styles of the era.
