AFP Service Medal

The Australian Federal Police Service Medal is a distinguished award established to honour the long-term commitment and service of individuals with the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and the Australian Protective Service. This esteemed medal serves as a tangible recognition of the dedication and contributions made by these individuals in upholding law and order.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Individuals who have completed a cumulative total of 10 years of qualifying service with the AFP from 19 October 1979 are eligible for this award.
• Employees who were serving with both the AFP and the Australian Protective Service on 1 July 2004 are also eligible.
• At 20 years of service, an antique bronze clasp is awarded. Additional clasps are awarded for 25, 30, 35, and 40 years of service.

Design

The medal features the AFP platypus emblem, along with St Edward's Crown, a Roman numeral X, and the Federation Star. The reverse is blank, originals are engraved with the recipient's details. The ribbon is adorned with stripes in shades of yellow, white, and dark blue.
